10 Moving-Day Must Haves
It’s moving day! Make sure you have these 10 things handy.
When moving into a new house, there are several handy items you’ll want to have readily available to make your first day more comfortable and organized. Here are ten must-have items for your move-in day:
1. Cleaning Supplies: Have a box or bag with essential cleaning supplies such as surface cleaner, glass cleaner, paper towels, all-purpose cleaner, and a broom. It’s helpful to give your new space a quick clean before unpacking.
2. Tool Kit: Keep a basic tool kit handy with essentials like a hammer, screwdrivers (both flathead and Phillips), pliers, adjustable wrench, and a tape measure. These tools will come in handy for assembling furniture or making small repairs.
3. Box Cutter or Scissors: You’ll likely have plenty of boxes to unpack, so having a box cutter or a good pair of scissors will make the process much easier.
4. Toilet Paper: Don’t forget to stock up on toilet paper. You’ll be grateful to have it readily available when you need to use the restroom after a long day of moving.
5. Shower Curtain and Towels: If your new house has a shower, pack a shower curtain and a few towels in an easily accessible box. After a tiring day, you might want to freshen up, and having these items readily available will save you from rummaging through boxes.
6. Bedding: Prepare a set of sheets, pillows, and blankets for each bed you’ll be using on your first night. After a long day of moving, you’ll want a comfortable and familiar sleeping setup.
7. Basic Kitchen Supplies: To avoid eating out on your first day, pack some basic kitchen supplies such as plates, bowls, glasses, cutlery, a can opener, and a couple of pots and pans. This will allow you to prepare a simple meal without needing to unpack all of your kitchen items right away.
8. Snacks and Water: Moving can be exhausting, so make sure you have a stash of snacks and bottles of water on hand. These will keep you fueled and hydrated throughout the day.
9. Phone Charger and Electronics: Keep your phone charger and other essential electronics (laptop, tablet, etc.) easily accessible. You may need to look up information, make important calls, or simply unwind by watching a movie.
10. Personal Essentials: Lastly, have a small bag or box with personal essentials like toiletries, medications, a change of clothes, and any other items you may need immediately. This way, you won’t have to dig through all your belongings to find these necessities.
By having these ten handy items available on your first day, you’ll be well-prepared to tackle the initial challenges of moving into your new house and make the transition smoother and more comfortable.
